Hi from "la Finlande"
I remember telling myself a few years ago that I would like to be able to go to a northern country before I turn 30 ... That if I decided to reach the mark, it would be before I turned 30. Well for once, I was not wrong and I realized my dream faster than expected! Yesterday, August 22, I celebrated my 29th birthday, in Finland, with my loved one and his family. We are gathered at home, it also allowed some members of the family to discover our house. We had an excellent cake from PH7 Bakery! If you come in the area, I really recommend it. I chose a white chocolate cake with a raspberry mousse which was to die for!

I can only be happy to be here so I can start a new year of my life closer to nature, closer to my beliefs, my ideas, and my heart. I had so many doubts, failures, disappointments but also a lot of losses in my life, that I decided to live the life that makes me happy. To take advantage of each day given to me to do what looks like me. I am always aware that it will be a long process for me to fit in perfectly here, to learn the language, but I think that I have already found my place ... With the man I love, who loves me, who makes me laugh and supports me in this change of life ... Surrounded by his family who are more than understanding and patient with me, and adorable friends on whom I can count and who do everything to make me understand that I have my place here. Of course, I also have a thought for all my family and friends in France. All the people I have been able to spend time with and who have accompanied me so far and who will be with me for a long time to come, even out of sight. I love you all, thank you for everything ♥
We can say that I was spoiled, between flowers, chocolates, wool... everything I love !! I tell you a little more about my gifts after the photos ...
Pic by pic :
The book "Metsäantutkija" (forest explorer) is a book which describes the types of forests in Finland and the plants and fungi that can be found and gathered there. It is in Finnish but it will be a good training for me and it's so interesting that it's vocabulary that speaks to me so it will be easier for me to learn and especially to remember! With Kim, we had plans to change our plates, and of course I wanted something Finnish, I loved the design of the iittala tableware and I still remember talking about the colors I would love with his family. I don't think it fell on deaf ears, as we say! The ball of yarn I had already spotted at Prisma, this large store where you can find everything! The color "Lapintaika" means Magic of Lapland. I love its shades of blue and its little silver thread! I couldn't resist and last night I started knitting socks with it! The chocolate bar is a mix between two divinely good specialties in Finland: Fazer chocolate and Dumle chocolate and toffee candies (also created by the Fazer group) ... The challenge is not to finish the bar in less than 24 hours.
The second ball of yarn in the color "Korpi" which means Wilderness. I love the colors that remind me of fall. She will surely end up in socks for the fall!
In Finland, it is very common to offer paper napkins, which suddenly are all more beautiful than the others. In stores there is a section dedicated to this, and even big brands like Marimekko or Iittala make their own paper napkins. Here it is in the effigy of the Moomins!
Speaking of Moomins, I also received a wonderful Moomins tray! I had also spotted it a few days earlier in a store!
The book "Sienestäjän opas" or The guide to mushrooms, is a pocket book on mushrooms very simplified and plasticized! This allows you to take it in your pocket to go pick mushrooms in the forest without being afraid of damaging it.
With the book, and to accompany my picking, something very important: The reflective bands to attach around the wrist or the bag to be seen at night! And yes, autumn is coming, and with it the long nights. It will start to get dark earlier and earlier.
I also received flowers, which will allow me to enjoy the summer for a few more weeks!
And finally, I was offered a "Finnish Starter Pack" which allows me to introduce myself to all the finer points of Finland: Wine, Finnish cheese, cheese slicer, rye bread and obviously toilet paper is also important in Finland !!!
Thank you to everyone who thought of me for my birthday, and thank you also to everyone who reads my articles and for the feedback I have had regarding my blog. You give me the motivation to share even more things with you.
I can promise you that I will try to make you travel as much as I could travel while discovering this beautiful country that is Finland.
As always, if you have any questions, or topics that you want me to discuss, but also if you just want to send me a little message to chat, please do not hesitate. I will take the time to answer you.
Here begins a new year of my life. And I hope to be able to celebrate many more birthdays in Finland.
